The Brave commander ESN Ifeanyi Eze Okorienta has been captured
Ifeanyi Eze Okorienta — also known as “Gentle de Yahoo” — an alleged commander of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and its armed wing, the Eastern Security Network (ESN), was arrested by the Nigerian Army on Tuesday, military sources said. According to those sources, troops from the 34 Artillery Brigade, working with other security agencies, captured the suspect during an intelligence-driven operation at a hideout in Aku-Ihube, Okigwe Local Government Area of Imo State.
The military reported that a cache of weapons and other items believed linked to the group’s activities was recovered at the scene. Recovered items were listed as: one English-made pistol; 120 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition; 25 rounds of 7.62mm NATO ammunition; one cartridge; six mobile phones; military and police uniforms; and a German flag reportedly used as a symbol by the group. Troops also uncovered a workshop allegedly used to dismantle stolen vehicles for resale, and destroyed ten motorcycles found at the site to prevent further use in criminal operations.
A video circulating on social media reportedly shows the suspect implicating Imo State Governor Hope Uzodinma, alleging that the governor met with him, other commanders and an unnamed man he called “my master.” In the video the man is quoted as saying, in translation, that if Governor Uzodinma denies those meetings he should “swear” on it — adding a threat about his own life if the claim is false.
The allegations in the video and the claims about the governor are unverified. The governor’s office and other relevant authorities have not publicly confirmed or denied the specific claims mentioned in the footage.
