MBC Proscribe Musicians Not only Record Soyinka Slams Idris

According to a report published Sunday on the official X account of PUNCH, Nobel Laureate Prof. Wole Soyinka has reacted to the National Broadcasting Commission’s (NBC) decision to ban the popular song “Tell Your Papa” by Nigerian artist Eedris Abdulkareem. The NBC had prohibited the song from all broadcast platforms nationwide, citing its content as offensive.

In his response, Soyinka criticized the NBC’s action, describing it as misguided and undemocratic. He sarcastically remarked that not only should the song be banned, but the artist himself should be proscribed. He further suggested that the Performing Musicians Association of Nigeria (PMAN), or any musical body affiliated with Abdulkareem, should also face sanctions.

According to Ghetto News, Soyinka condemned the ban as a move that undermines democratic expression and artistic freedom.
