Mikel Obi Urges Chelsea to Sign Osimhen: “I’ve Said My Piece

Former Super Eagles and Chelsea midfield stalwart John Obi Mikel has issued what appears to be a final appeal to his former club to secure the services of Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen, according to Foitynaija.com.

Osimhen, currently on loan at Galatasaray, has been in red-hot form this season, netting 28 goals in 32 appearances. His prolific goal-scoring ability and commanding presence up front have made him a top target for several elite European clubs. Though still officially a Napoli player, the 25-year-old is widely expected to make a permanent move this summer, with the Premier League as his most likely destination. Arsenal, Manchester United, and Chelsea are all reportedly monitoring the situation closely.

Mikel, speaking on his Obi One Podcast, reiterated his strong desire to see Osimhen don the blue of Chelsea—despite the club’s failure to land him last summer.

“His hunger, his ambition, the arrogance and feistiness he plays with—that’s exactly what you need to succeed in the Premier League. For me, I can see a great partnership forming if he joins Chelsea,” Mikel said.

“I’ve said what I have to say, I’ve done my part. If the club decides not to go for him, fair enough. He has options. Good luck to him, and good luck to Chelsea. If it doesn’t happen, it doesn’t happen.”

With the summer transfer window approaching and competition for Osimhen heating up, it remains to be seen whether Chelsea will act on Mikel’s advice or look elsewhere for their attacking reinforcements
