Super Eagles’ Iwobi and Bassey Back Osimhen After Fiery Clash in Turkish Cup Showdown

Super Eagles stars Alex Iwobi and Calvin Bassey have publicly backed Victor Osimhen following his heated altercation with Fenerbahce’s Mert Muldur during Galatasaray’s intense 2-1 victory in the Turkish Cup quarterfinals.

The clash, which went viral, unfolded after Fenerbahce’s Milan Skriniar elbowed Osimhen, triggering a confrontation with substitute Muldur. Iwobi and Bassey, both teammates of Osimhen in the Nigerian national team and current Fulham players, shared a video of the moment on Snapchat. Bassey, visibly proud, can be heard saying, “Don’t play with my boy,” followed by an emphatic “Osimhen!”

Osimhen, who scored both goals in the win, played a pivotal role in knocking out Jose Mourinho’s Fenerbahce side and advancing Galatasaray to the semifinals. His fearless demeanor and sharp finishing have made him a key figure in Galatasaray’s title charge, with 20 goals in 23 appearances this season.

The altercation has only added fuel to the already fierce rivalry between Galatasaray and Fenerbahce, and Osimhen’s passionate display has further endeared him to both fans and his Nigerian teammates.
