The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has announced plans to invite President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to commission completed infrastructure projects in FCT Area Councils as part of activities marking the president’s second year in office.

Speaking to reporters after inspecting ongoing projects across Gwagwalada, Kwali, and Bwari Area Councils on Saturday, Wike expressed optimism that the president’s presence would deepen connections with grassroots communities and offer residents the chance to engage directly with their leader.
“We’ll work to ensure Mr. President visits at least one or two Area Councils. Let the people see that this is truly their president—not just someone commissioning projects in the city. We are hopeful he will go to Gwagwalada, Kwali, or Bwari, where the Law School is located,” Wike stated.
The minister recalled President Tinubu’s directive to prioritise the development of satellite towns to help decongest the Abuja city centre and improve the quality of life for residents. He noted that the administration remains committed to this vision, particularly in reducing commuting times and enhancing local economies.
During the inspection, Wike expressed satisfaction with the quality and pace of work at various project sites, including the 10km Agoma Palace/Market/Park roads in Gwagwalada, the 15km A2 to Pai road in Kwali, and road networks around War College and the Army checkpoint in Bwari.
“These are quality jobs by quality contractors,” Wike said. “We are not just providing infrastructure, but quality infrastructure that meets standards and improves lives.”
He praised the contractors for their dedication and assured them of continued funding support to ensure the timely completion of all projects.
