The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Kayode Egbetokun, has directed the implementation of enhanced security measures nationwide to ensure a safe and peaceful Eid-el-Fitr celebration.
In a statement, the IGP extended heartfelt greetings to the Muslim Ummah across the country, celebrating the successful completion of Ramadan.
To safeguard public safety, the Nigeria Police Force has instructed Commissioners of Police (CPs), Tactical Commanders, and Assistant Inspectors-General of Police (AIGs) to strengthen security at Eid prayer grounds, recreational centers, and other public spaces. Officers have also been deployed for intelligence-driven patrols, surveillance, and strategic stop-and-search operations to prevent any security threats.
While urging citizens to celebrate peacefully and adhere to the law, the IGP encouraged the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to security agencies.
Recognizing the spiritual essence of this period, the IGP emphasized the importance of self-discipline, tolerance, and compassion—values nurtured during Ramadan—to foster peace and national unity.
He wished all Muslim faithful a joyful and serene Eid-el-Fitr celebration, reaffirming the Nigeria Police Force’s commitment to maintaining law and order while promoting unity across the nation.
