Nnamdi Kanu has not been sentenced to life imprisonment. What happened in court was not a lawful judgment but a recital of a sentence that does not exist anywhere in Nigerian law,” an American lawyer also advocated as he revealed.
According to him, the judge failed the most basic principle of justice: show the accused the written law he allegedly violated.
“Across the world, before you jail any man, you must show him the exact law he broke and the section that warrants the punishment. But in this case, they read empty letters, not legal provisions,” the lawyer stated.
He insisted that Nnamdi Kanu is under political house arrest, not lawfully sentenced.
“Even in hellfire,” he argued, “God does not condemn a soul without showing the record of what they did. You cannot beat a child without telling him what he did wrong. So how on earth do you imprison a man without a written law? Don’t be deceived.”
