Prominent South-South leaders have called on Nigerians, especially constituents of Kogi Central, to stand firmly behind Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, describing her suspension from the Senate as a calculated political attack and a disservice to Nigerian democracy and women’s representation.
In a statement issued Tuesday in Port Harcourt by Chief John Harry, Chairman of the South-South Front (SSF), the leaders condemned the six-month suspension of Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan, labeling it “a strategic blunder” and “a taunt to the people of Kogi Central and Nigerian women at large.”
They warned the constituents not to be swayed by “political clowns, saboteurs, and destructive elements masquerading as Progressives,” who, according to them, are fueling a campaign of misinformation and division.

“Some senators and Kogi APC chieftains wrongly believe that forged signatures and rented mobs can successfully recall Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan. It is a dangerous precedent,” the statement read.
The leaders urged stakeholders across all geopolitical zones to adopt Akpoti-Uduaghan’s cause as a national one, noting that she represents courage, competence, and democratic integrity. “She is on the right side of history,” they said, applauding her resilience in the face of political adversity.
They also strongly criticized the Senate leadership, accusing it of moral failure, selfishness, and fostering a culture of intolerance. “Calls for her arrest are not only baseless but foolish,” they added.
In a direct appeal to Senate President Godswill Akpabio, the group urged him to rise above partisanship and ego. “This is a delicate moment. Senator Akpabio must modernize his leadership approach, de-escalate tensions, and consult with respected statesmen like the Alema of Warri, High Chief Emmanuel Oritsejolomi Uduaghan, rather than pursuing petitions and legal theatrics,” they advised.
The statement also denounced recent criticisms from Executive Watchdog, describing the attacks on Akpoti-Uduaghan as “sickening and unacceptable.”
Reaffirming their support, the South-South leaders pledged to stand by Akpoti-Uduaghan throughout the crisis, hailing her achievements, political acumen, and unwavering resolve.
“Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan is not just a beacon for Kogi Central—she is an asset to the entire nation,” the statement concluded.
