Senate President Akpabio breaks silence on the fresh accusations amidst assassination claim by colleague Natasha saying it was a calculated move to discredit his office and cause uproar amongst the general public
Senate President Godswill Akpabio has strongly refuted serious allegations made by suspended Kogi Central lawmaker, Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, accusing him of orchestrating a plot to assassinate her. During a Sallah visit to her constituency in March 2025, Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan claimed that Akpabio, in collaboration with former Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello, conspired to end her life. She called on Nigerians to hold both men accountable should any harm come to her.
In a statement issued on Friday through his media aide, Eseme Eyibo, Akpabio dismissed the claims as entirely false, reckless, and malicious. He described the allegations as a dangerous attempt to provoke public unrest and tarnish his reputation.
“This claim is not only a fabrication but a deliberate effort to incite public outrage and undermine the integrity of my office,” Akpabio stated. He also noted that the same senator had previously accused him of sexual harassment—a charge she later dropped without explanation. “Having failed with that narrative, she has now turned to an even more insidious allegation,” he added.
