It was a moment of joy today for supporters of the suspended Governor of Rivers State as he made a public appearance at the headquarters of Salvation Ministries in Port Harcourt’s GRA.
Since the declaration of a state of emergency and the suspension of Governor Siminalaye Fubara, his whereabouts and that of his family had remained unknown, except for a press release allegedly issued in his name. Concerns over his safety grew, prompting Rivers elders, led by Sir Rufus Ada George and Sara-Igbe, to hold a press conference. They urged the governor to appear on television to confirm he was safe, expressing fears that the FCT Minister might go to any lengths in the ongoing political crisis.

Today, however, all doubts were put to rest as Governor Fubara was seen at Salvation Ministries, accompanied by his security detail. Looking calm and composed, he gave no outward sign of recent tensions. This marks his first public appearance since the state of emergency was declared, indicating that he may have heeded the calls of concerned citizens.
Before the crisis escalated and the president’s intervention, Governor Fubara was known for attending Thanksgiving services and making surprise church visits whenever the state achieved significant milestones. Now, all eyes are on him to see whether his latest appearance signals a new development in the unfolding political situation.
